Organic & sustainable food options in San Diego

Over the past several year's I've become increasingly interested in local/sustainable and organic food production. It's difficult getting good information about local resources in San Diego county for buying local/sustainable food, so I created this web page to share what I've found and liked in San Diego. Not everything is organic or locally grown as I've noted below, but I find each option infinitely preferable to the supermarket alternative.

Rock & Roll Marathon

Amy, Julie and I ran/walked the 2008 San Diego Rock & Roll MarathonElvis at the head of the packtoday. This was Julie's first marathon & Amy trained with her one on one for the past several months.  They both came in at 6:52:05.  I trained with my friends at InMotionFit using the 16 week Furman FIRST training program. I trained for a 3:56 time (9 min/mile pace) and was on target until about three weeks before the marathon when I threw my back out. I also caught a cold a few days before the race, so I wasn't in the best shape on race day & came in at 4:29:26. The race started from Balboa Park at 6:30 and it was cool & overcast. Me and a group of fellow runers started out with the 4:00 pace group leader & we were very dissapointed when at mile 5 the guy threw away the pace stick and disappeared entirely from the marathon. Something didn't seem right when he showed up in our corral wearing a cotton T-shirt & regular street shorts.

2008 Carlsbad Marathon

I started training for the 2008 Carlsbad Marathon in June of 2007 with two goals.  First, I wanted to run the entire 26.2 miles without having to stop and walk.  My second goal was to complete the marathon in 4 hours or less.  Starting Line

Subdudes in Solana Beach

We rock! I went to a great Subdudes concert at the Belly Up in Solana Beach last week. I got there a bit late and missed the opening band, which from what I hear wasn't such a bad thing. It was my first Subdudes concert, and it was really amazing. They are just such a cool New Orleans style mellow rock band w/ a good funky beat, guitar and an accordian. They are kind of a hippy sort of band, definately left on the political spetrum & just a whole heck of a lot of fun to listen to live, or recorded. I've put a link to one of my favorite songs caled Next to Me. A bit sad, but very lyrical and totally enjoyable.
