Palomar Cabin

The DeFay-Perez Family Cabin on Palomar Mountain

IMPORTANT: There are no gas stations after leaving Highway 15 (it's 26 miles up and 26 back).  There is very limited cell phone reception on the mountain and we have no telephone at the cabin.

Please Note: We recently painted the cabin RED

DIRECTIONS COMING FROM THE NORTH:

Thomas' first day of flight school

On a recent Southwest flight from Sacramento to San Diego, the captain invited Thomas to come check out the cockpit.  It was so cool when we were 30,000 feet over LA & Thomas got his first flight lesson.  He looks pretty confident to me!

The Two-De-Beast

Thomas turned two in April.  We had a combined birthday party / Easter celebration up at the cabin and there was snow on the ground!  We've been keeping busy since then going on various adventures and having a good time.

We're now working on potty training and he's doing great!  He's also given up his pacifier and we're so PROUD!  Since I've not been able keep up on my blog lately (too darned busy) I've put together a photo album with various pictures we've taken since Easter.  Click on the photo to see the full album.

Thomas at 16 months

I can't believe it's been 16 months since Thomas was born.  He's now huge & looks like a little boy instead of a baby.  He's been swimming alot this summer, about three times a week with his friend Carlos at Murray Callan Swim School in Pacific Beach.  To see the full album, click one of the pictures.

Thomas at the zoo

Thomas and I went to the San Diego Zoo today and had fun watching and playing with the critters. Click the pic to see the album....  Thomas and dad having fun at the zoo

Our first stop was the river otter tank, one of Thomas' favorites.  He giggled and laughed as the otters swam by him frolicking at tank window.  Our next stop was the animal petting area where he met a nice goat pictured above.  After saying hi to the she-goat, Thomas decided it was time to play with the goat's toys.  In this case it was a big plastic cube thing they jump on.  After that he went and talked to the rabbits and got upset when he couldn't pull their rabbit toy out through the bars of their cage.  Our next stop was the wash up station where Thomas became mesmerized by the whole "hand sink at my level" thing.  He washed his hands about a dozen times & had a great time getting water everywhere.

Our next stop was the polar bear pool.  On our way there, we had to stop in a grassy meadow for him to run around screaming chasing his shadow.  When we arrived at the polar bear area, he was so tired that he didn't really want to spend much time there.  So, after playing at the zoo for about 1 1/2 hours, we headed back home for him to take a nap.
